    Amador Cruise Terminal location

    The dock is located on one of the 4 islands, which together form the Amador. The 4 islands are connected via a causeway. You will find yachts, marinas, shops, restaurants, go-karting, and a drive-in cinema along the causeway. The 4 islands are named Naos, Culebra, Perico, and Flamenco. From all 4 islands, you can see the vessels waiting to enter the Panama Canal. 

     

    Construction of the Cruise Terminal in Panama

    In October 2017, Panama City Port Authority started construction to expand its cruise shipping capacity. This is by opening a new cruise terminal on the pacific side of Panama. As there was already one in operation on the Atlantic (Caribbean) side bordering the city of Colon.

    The opening of the Cruise Terminal in Panama

    The cruise terminal on the Amador in Panama City was officially opened in May 2019. A year before COVID hit and locked everything down.

    The new Amador Cruise Terminal allows up to 5 of the world's largest passenger liners to dock simultaneously in Panama City. On average, these ships carry up to 6300 passengers plus 1200 crew members.

    The economic impact of the Cruise Terminal

    The port of Colon (Atlantic Side) currently handles 180+ cruise ship calls annually. With Panama's new terminal on the Pacific side, you can imagine the positive impact of the cruise terminal on the tourism and economy of Panama.     The best way to get to Casco Viejo or downtown Panama City from the Cruise Terminal is by Uber. It will cost you about $5 to $10 USD and only takes about 10 - 15 minutes.
