Panama Canal Welcomes Thrilling 2024-2025 Cruise Season: A Gateway for Over 350,000 Tourists
The Panama Canal’s 2024-2025 cruise season is set to bring an influx of more than 350,000 tourists, marking an exciting time for maritime tourism in the region.
With the season running from October 2024 through April 2025, over 170 vessels are expected to pass through, with the most iconic ships such as Norwegian Bliss and Encore traversing the famous waterway. Major cruise lines including Norwegian, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Holland America will be offering full and partial canal transits, making Panama a key destination for North American travelers.
This season brings special attention to Panama's role as both a destination and an embarkation point. The new Amador Cruise Terminal in Panama City plays a central role in this transformation. Opened in 2022, the terminal allows Panama to function as a "home port" for the first time, allowing cruise passengers to begin and end their journeys in the country. This new terminal is expected to handle more than 22,000 tourists directly departing from Panama, adding a significant boost to the local economy.
Located at the entrance of the Panama Canal, the Amador Cruise Terminal is strategically positioned to offer travelers easy access to Panama City's vibrant attractions, including the nearby Biomuseo, Casco Viejo, and Panama Viejo, making it an ideal spot for pre- or post-cruise visits.
The cruise season promises not only economic growth, but also cultural exchange, with visitors exploring the beauty and history of Panama. From partial canal transits to exploring the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, this season is set to highlight Panama's importance in the global cruise industry while offering unforgettable experiences for travelers.
